About Oil

About Oil: Naftalan oil is a unique type of oil found only in Naftalan, Azerbaijan, and is used for therapeutic purposes. It has no analogs in the world. Doctors have been prescribing it for the treatment of various diseases for many years. Naftalan oil can be used to treat over 70 diseases, including musculoskeletal, bone-muscle, nervous system, skin, gynecological, urological, and other ailments. Due to its unique medicinal properties, inflammation is alleviated, pain is reduced, blood circulation and metabolism are normalized. Naftalan oil is actually a tar-free, non-paraffin oil that has not been subjected to burning. It does not contain fractions like gasoline or kerosene. Its main active components are naphthenic hydrocarbons, which have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergic properties. The oil also contains aromatic hydrocarbons and resins, which resemble human hormones (androgens, estrogens, and corticosteroids). Naftalan oil is a black-brown liquid with a specific smell, natural, and free of additives. Chemical Composition of Naftalan Oil: 1. Naphthene - 50-55% 2. Aromatic compounds - 10-15% 3. Resins - 14-15% 4. Naphthenic acids - 0.5-3% 5. Sulfur compounds - 0.3-0.7% 6. Nitrogen compounds - 0.3% 7. Trace elements (copper, zinc, manganese, boron, iodine, bromine, etc.) The hotels and treatment centers here use native Naftalan oil for therapeutic baths. In some medical procedures, purified Naftalan is used. Medicines made from purified Naftalan are used in various types of external and internal treatments, such as in eczema and psoriasis. Naftalan oil is used not only in therapeutic baths but also in tampons, for lubricating mucous membranes in the gums, throat, and nose, and in urological and gynecological treatments to reduce internal inflammation. The treatment duration with Naftalan ranges from 7 to 21 days. During the treatment period, patients must take 4-12 baths under the supervision of medical professionals, with mandatory breaks. Naftalan baths are taken at a temperature of 38°C, with an average duration of 8-10 minutes. This oil is particularly useful for treating musculoskeletal system diseases. Depending on the recommendation, Naftalan baths can be prescribed: general, sitting, or chamber baths. In some cases, Naftalan oils are heated with a solux lamp for applications. Naftalan therapy is performed for rheumatoid arthritis, polyarthritis (gout, brucellosis, post-traumatic), osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis, spondylosis, and tendinitis when there is no acute phase. It is not recommended for heart, kidney failure, oncology, and other serious conditions. Naftalan oil is invaluable for skin diseases. In psoriasis patients, Naftalan significantly reduces the symptoms of psoriatic plaques. After the first treatment course, patients notice reduced rashes and redness, and within a month after treatment, most psoriatic plaques fade. During the procedures, the warm oil expands the skin pores, and the oil is absorbed by the skin and enters the bloodstream. The most commonly used treatments include bromine baths, balneotherapy, massage, paraffin, and physiotherapy. For children over the age of 5, Naftalan therapy can be prescribed if there are no contraindications. The duration of their physiotherapy and bath sessions differs from adults. To enhance the competitiveness of Naftalan oil and its products, the AZS 886:2020 "Naftalan Oil Native. General Requirements" state standard project was prepared by the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute and first approved as a state standard for Naftalan oil and its derived products at the Technical Committee on Standardization (AZSTAND/TK 29).
